The Mint Museum of Craft & Design documents the evolution of craft in various mediums, including metal, glass, ceramics, fiber and jewelry, from its 19th century roots through contemporary design. Showcasing work from North Carolina and throughout the world, the museum exhibits fine Venetian and Czechoslovakian glass, an impressive array of American turned wood, as well as over 2000 pieces of North Carolina pottery in its expansive collection of design and craft. Located in downtown Charlotte, the museum is housed in the renovated Montaldo’s department store, designed in 1953 by Charlotte architect Louis Asbury.
