Not All Bad

Posted bymhend64on 8/4/2008

Has gone slightly downhill since the last time I was there. The hibatchi is stil wonderful, although they are not as "showy" as they used to be. Seem a bit more rushed. Was a little cold, so definitely bring a sweater. The prices are a little steep for the amount of food they give you as well. All in all, the food is still pretty good and the service is fast, friendly and efficient.

This place is really popular,

and rightfully so. We actually moved away from the immediate area, but still go there as frequently as we can. Sometimes the wait is a little long, but the food and service justify it.

nice place

Something has happened at this place. It used to be really good. The soup came out promptly (fine), then before we were even half done with our soups (and not just us, everyone at the table), our salads came out. Our salads had not been on the table more than 2 minutes and the cook came out. The whole "presentation" part of the experience was hurried and rushed. The cook did not even bother with spinning or tossing the egg around, he already had them mixed (yes, he did not even open them in front of us) up and just dumped them on the grill. The trick that they do with the onion rings and alcohol was rushed to the point where there was less than 5 seconds from start to finish. The shrimp sauce was so bland that I could not even taste it (it looked like watered down thousand island dressing). The steak was about 1/4 inch thick and bland. The shrimp were the size of 40-60 count. The amount of rice that was served was actually not enough, barely 1 cup. Granted, they did serve nice noodles with the food, but still. The whole experience was over in 30 minutes from the time we were seated to the time we were handed our checks. One of the worst japanese steak house experiences I have had. Neither I, nor my wife will be returning to this place again. The whole evening not only felt rushed, but it actually was very rushed. I asked around at the table and everyone agreed that this was rushed. I felt sorry for the couple who came out to this place for their 40th anniversary, and by the looks of it, so did they.

Sushi? Nakatos? Uh, No thanks.

Great restaurant to go if you want hibachi grill, but lacking in the Sushi department. My wife and I were a little disappointed in the size of the rolls. They were the size you would expect to get for half priced Sushi during lunch. After sharing an appetizer and 4 rolls, we left still hungry. The appetizer (Seared Tuna) was excellent, seared perfectly and melted like butter in your mouth. Service was excellent with very prompt and knowledgeable help. The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice. Ladies, it was a bit cold, so unless you are going to be sitting in front of one of the hibachi grills, I would recommend taking a light sweater just in case.
